Ohio Aerospace Day

Ohio is unique in the nation in the sheer breadth and scope of our state-based aerospace industry. In Ohio, federal, civilian and non-profit entities span the civilian and military and industrial product development spectrum. The spectrum ranges from basic aerospace science and technology, focused research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, systems manufacturing and supply chain manufacturing, depot and intermediate level logistics and major headquarters management, and finally to operations, intelligence, and command and control. The Ohio aerospace industry is supported by an outstanding higher education system and public awareness events such as the US Air and Trade Show. The Ohio aerospace foundation is rock solid, and immensely powerful in its synergies, and the sector offers immense opportunities for the commercial and industrial base of our state.

To recognize those synergies to their maximum potential, we must adopt a state-wide aerospace strategy, and work together to achieve a common vision for this critical industry in our state. This strategy will be built around a broad definition of the aerospace industry to emphasize its Ohio presence. This industry sector encompasses the research, development and manufacture of aerospace systems including manned and unmanned aircraft and space vehicles, and includes their associated subsystems such as propulsion, guidance and navigation, as well as essential ground-based support equipment. It is also critical to include the aerospace physiological, medical and sustainment/logistics/supply workforce.
