About Ohio Aerospace Day: Stated Goals

Goal One

Increase awareness in the Ohio public, Ohio state government, Ohio congressional delegation, and the national aerospace community of: (a) the importance of aerospace to Ohio; and (b) Ohio's capabilities in aerospace.

Goal Two

Work to increase the competitive position of Ohio’s aerospace industry through dialogue and exchange ideas on public policies and strategic partnerships.

Key Messages for Goal One: Increase Awareness of Ohio Aerospace Industry Importance

  1. Ohio has recognized national centers for Aerospace Research, Development, Acquisition, Intelligence, and Commercialization.
  2. Ohio develops and enables future aerospace technologies.
  3. Ohio is world renowned for its high-technology commercialization.

Key Messages for Goal Two: Increase Ohio Aerospace Industry Competitiveness

  1. Leverage federal installations and their economic impact to the State of Ohio
  2. Grow and sustain the Ohio Supply chain
  3. Attract an aerospace prime manufacturer in Ohio
  4. Strengthen aerospace related research at Ohio universities and non-profits


Ohio Aerospace Day Strategic Outcomes

The following outcomes will result from an Aerospace Day event.

  1. Establishment of a strong foundational understanding among key state and Federal leaders of existing strengths and capabilities of Ohio’s aerospace industry. (Counter the “I didn’t realize we did that here” syndrome first)
  2. Identification of major opportunities to grow Ohio’s aerospace industry in the future, and actions that must be taken to address challenges to future growth. (Answer the question “What is needed from Ohio by the major aerospace manufacturing base”)
  3. A commitment from key state leaders to support an Ohio Aerospace Day on an annual basis to discuss: a. The competitive position of the Ohio aerospace industry; b. Significant aerospace-related accomplishments of Ohio-based companies, federal laboratories, and universities; and c. Challenges to aerospace industry growth in Ohio, and public and private sector actions needed to address the challenges.
